Where does the name Het Laakhuis come from?
The name “Het Laakhuis” is inspired by the nearby waterway De Laak in Rheden. Historically, the word “laak” refers to still or slow-flowing water, such as a pool or brook. In Rheden, De Laak is a stream that plays an important role in the local ecosystem and landscape. The newly created De Laak village park, opened in March 2023, features this stream as a central element and offers residents a green space for recreation and nature experiences.
The name “Het Laakhuis” reflects this connection to the local water and the natural surroundings of Rheden.
Joke & Koos, a hospitable couple
Joke and Koos are a warm and enthusiastic couple with a passion for hosting guests. For many years, they ran Camping Bomhofshoeve near Apeldoorn, where they enjoyed giving holidaymakers a great time. Hospitality runs in their veins—they love creating an open, friendly atmosphere and making everyone feel welcome.
They recently moved to Rheden, where Het Laakhuis offers them a new way to share the beauty of the area with others. With their experience and personal touch, they ensure every stay is comfortable and relaxing. Whether you’re looking for tips for a lovely walk or just a friendly chat, Joke and Koos are always there for you.
